BTS Releases Airline Traffic and Financial Statistics

Thursday, December 13, 2001 -- The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics has released the most recent traffic and financial statistics reported by the nation’s major airlines on its website http://www.bts.gov.

BTS is making September 2001 traffic statistics for the major airlines available on the website, including enplanements, flight departures, available seat miles, revenue passenger miles and load factor. The August 2001 and September 2000 statistics are provided for comparison.

BTS is making third quarter 2001 (July–September) financial statistics for the major airlines available on the website, including operating revenue, operating expense, operating profit (or loss) and net income (or loss). Second quarter 2001 (April–June) and third quarter 2000 (July–September) statistics are provided for comparison.
