Amtrak Stations - Data Dictionary

Abstract: The Amtrak Stations database is a geographic data set containing Amtrak intercity railroad passenger terminals in the United States and Canada. Attribute data include services and passenger amenities provided at the station.

Purpose: The data set provides location and attribute information for use in national and regional cartographic and network analysis applications.

1 Shape Feature geometry. Geometry
2 LONGITUDE The longitude of the point in decimal degrees with six implied decimal places. (Negative values are west longitude. Positive values are east longitude.) Double Precision Floating Point
3 LATITUDE The latitude of the point in decimal degrees with six implied decimal places. (Postivie values are north latitude. Negative values are south latitude.) Double Precision Floating Point
4 POINTID PointID is a sequential unique integer assigned to each record. Double Precision Floating Point
5 FEATUREID Amtrak station code - a unique three character identifier assigned to the Amtrak station Character String

8 CITY Name of city where station is located Character String
9 STATE State railroad abbreviation which follows the Postal abbreviation and includes Canadian Provinces and Mexican States. Character String

11 STATUS Station status in 2000 Character String
12 RR1 Operator of Amtrak service at that point. Character String
13 RR2 First additional provider of Amtrak service at that station. Character String
