KEY: GDP = Gross Domestic Product.

NOTES: For-hire transportation services include railroad transportation, local and inter-urban passenger transit, trucking and warehousing, water transportation, air transportation, pipelines (except natural gas), and transportation services. Transportation services cover establishments furnishing services incidental to transportation (e.g., forwarding and packing services and the arrangement of passenger and freight transportation). All dollar amounts are expressed in chained 1996 dollars, unless otherwise specified. Current dollar amounts (which are available in appendix B of this report) were adjusted to eliminate the effects of inflation over time.
