NOTES: Railroad diesel fuel price and highway vehicle- and aircraft-miles of travel data were not available for 2003 when this report was prepared. Current dollars (available in table 15-4b in appendix B) were converted to 2000 chained dollars by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics to eliminate the effects of inflation over time.
