Notice of Request for Clearance of an Information Collection: Omnibus Household Survey Program
In accordance with the requirements of section 3506(c)(2)(A) of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this notice announces the intention of the BTS to request the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB’s) approval for an extension of a currently approved information collection related to the use of and satisfaction with the nation’s transportation system.

3rd-Quarter 2009 Air Fares: Average 3rd-Quarter Domestic Air Fares Fell 14.4% from 3rd Quarter 2008; Top 100 Airports: Highest Fare in Huntsville, Lowest Fare at Atlantic City
Average domestic air fares in the third quarter of 2009 fell to their lowest July-to-September level since 2005, dropping 14.4 percent from the third quarter of 2008 in the largest year-to-year decline on record, the U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today. |

November 2009 Surface Trade with Canada and Mexico Fell 2.9 Percent from November 2008
Trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was 2.9 percent lower in November 2009 than in November 2008, dropping to $58.9 billion, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the U.S. Department of Transportation. |

November 2009 Passenger Airline Employment Down 3.3 Percent from November 2008
U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 3.3 percent fewer workers in November 2009 than in November 2008, the 17th consecutive decrease in full-time equivalent employee (FTE) levels for the scheduled passenger carriers from the same month of the previous year, the U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today. FTE calculations count two part-time employees as one full-time employee. |

October 2009 Airline Traffic Data: System Traffic Down 1.4 Percent from October 2008
The number of scheduled domestic and international passengers on U.S. airlines in October 2009 decreased by 1.4 percent from October 2008, declining by 0.9 million to 58.8 million, the Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) today reported. October marked the 18th month out of the last 19 months with a decrease in passengers from the previous year. |

Airlines Set Records for On-Time Performance, Low Mishandled Baggage Rates in November
The nation's largest airlines set a single-month record in November for on-time performance for the nearly 15 years the U.S. Department of Transportation has collected comparable data, according to the Air Travel Consumer Report released today by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). They also set a record for the lowest rate of mishandled baggage in a single month since these data were first collected in September 1987. |
