    The Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI), which is based on the amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry, fell 0.4 percent in January from December, falling after reaching an all-time high in December, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ (BTS). The January 2018 index level (132.3) was 39.7 percent above the April 2009 low during the most recent recession.

The November 2017 index level (130.8) was 38.1 percent above the April 2009 low during the most recent recession.

The October 2017 index level (129.2) was 36.4 percent above the April 2009 low during the most recent recession.

The September 2017 index level (129.2) was 36.3 percent above the April 2009 low during the most recent recession.
