Number 191 - Passenger Origin-Destination Survey Transmittal Letter

Wednesday, August 7, 2024

Department Of Transportation Bureau Of Transportation Statistics Office Of Airline Information
Number 191
Issue Date: 9/29/95
Effective Date: 7/1/95
Part: 241.19-7

A transmittal letter must accompany your submission of the Passenger Origin-Destination Survey (Survey). Several carriers are submitting the Survey without a transmittal letter.

This transmittal letter must state, among other things, the overall record and passenger counts. These counts are extremely important to the editing process, since they enable us to know whether any records were lost or misread in the process.

The transmittal letter should have the following:

  1. Identify the carrier (sometimes we received a letter that is not on the carrier's letterhead).
  2. Identify that the submission is the Passenger Origin-Destination Survey (we receive other submissions for other data bases).
  3. Identify the period of coverage.
  4. Identify the tape, diskette or cartridge number, where applicable.
  5. State the Total Record count.
  6. State the Total Passenger count.
  7. Provide name and telephone number of the person that can answer questions about the Survey.

Finally, I want to reiterate the request made in my letter of August 23, 1995. In that letter, I requested those carriers still filing Survey data on hard copy forms, to submit their data on PC Diskettes. We hope that compliance is achieved with the September 1995 quarterly data due on November 15, 1995. If you have any questions, please call Don Bright on (202) 366-4373.

This action is taken under authority delegated in 14 C.F.R. Part 385.27(b) of the Department's regulations. Your cooperation is appreciated.
