  • Of the 47,824 recreational boating accidents that occurred from 1995 through 2000, about 34 percent (16,179) involved collisions with another vessel. This is followed by collisons with fixed objects and falls overboard. The top three types of boating accidents have remained the top three for the last 6 years.
