Event Definition - The Working Group recommends that all modes adopt the following definition of a reportable event:
-
Any incident involving the movement or operation or intended movement or operation of a motor vehicle, vessel, aircraft, pipeline, or other conveyance in the course of transporting persons or goods from one place to another:
-
a. That occurs within U.S. jurisdiction or involves a U.S. commercial carrier,
-
b. Where the cause is intentional or unintentional,
-
c. That results in substantial property damage, or
-
d. That results in injury (requiring medical attention beyond first aid) or death of anyone (passengers, crew, pedestrians, other workers, or bystanders) within 30 days of the event.
