1An active pilot is a person who holds a pilot certificate and a valid medical certificate issued within the last 25 months.
2Includes pilots with an airplane only certificate and those with an airplane and a helicopter and /or glider certificate.
3Includes helicopter, glider, and recreational pilots. Does not include pilots holding an airplane certificate. A recreational pilot may fly no more than one passenger in a light, single engine aircraft with no more than four seats during good weather and daylight hours and , unless authorized, no more than 50 miles from the home airport.
4Not included in total. A flight instructor must hold a flight instructor certificate in addition to a pilot certificate.
NOTE: Excludes U.S. military personnel holding civilian certificates who are stationed in a foreign country and pilots in U.S. territories.
