- State Transportation Statistics (STS) presents data on each state’s infrastructure, safety, freight movement, passenger travel, vehicles, economy and finance, and energy and the environment.
- The County and Congressional District Transportation Profiles dashboards are interactive dashboards that allow the user to explore transportation topics like airports, bridges, demographics, maritime, railroad, and person trips at the county and congressional district level. Additional data is being added regularly.
- The Supply Chain Indicators are made possible by an interagency working group, led by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, to develop timely information on supply chain activity. The working group includes relevant DOT modes and the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Commerce and Labor.
- Freight Facts and Figures is a collection of interactive visualizations and tables creating a snapshot of freight movement; the extent, condition, and performance of the freight transportation system; the economic characteristics of the transportation industry and its contribution to the U.S. economy; and the safety, energy, and environmental aspects of freight transportation.
- The Freight Analysis Framework (FAF) creates a comprehensive picture of freight movement among states and major metropolitan areas by all modes of transportation. FAF incorporates data from agriculture, extraction, utility, construction, service, and other sectors.
- The Commodity Flow Survey (CFS) is a shipper survey of approximately 100K establishments from the industries of mining, manufacturing, wholesale trade, auxiliaries (i.e. warehouses and distribution centers), and select retail and service trade. Data requested includes type of commodities shipped, their origin and destination, value and weight, and mode(s) of transport. The observed data provides a comprehensive, multimodal picture of in-scope national freight flows.
- TransBorder Freight Data provide North American merchandise trade and freight data and are useful in trade corridor studies, transportation infrastructure planning, marketing and logistics analyses, and other purposes.
- The Port Performance Report and Port Profiles provide nationally consistent performance measures on capacity and throughput.
- The Intermodal Freight Facility geospatial layers show the location and describe the modal connections of facilities that handle different commodities. These facilities serve as a freight transfer location between two or more modes of transportation and where commodities don’t change state.
- Freight Logistics Optimization Works (FLOW) is a collaboration with the freight industry to facilitate sharing of intermodal trade data to help anticipate and mitigate supply chain disruptions. Participating importers and logistics providers share data about expected freight movements and assets to support a more resilient freight network.
- Transportation Economic Trends (TET) highlights transportation’s role in the economy and explores changes (trends) over time through a series of interactive charts. TET also explains related concepts and data sources for a general audience.
- Transportation Public Finance Statistics (TPFS) provides information on transportation-related revenue and expenditures for all levels of government, including federal, state, and local, and for all modes of transportation.
- The Transportation Services Index (TSI) measures the movement of freight and passengers. The index is seasonally adjusted and combines available data on freight traffic and passenger travel. Data is weighted to yield a monthly measure of transportation services output.
- The Transportation Satellite Accounts (TSAs) provide a comprehensive means for measuring the contribution of transportation services to the national economy. The TSAs capture transportation activities carried out by the for-hire transportation sector for a fee, non-transportation industries for their own purposes, and households using a personal vehicle.
- Check out the aviation quick links page for popular air carrier statistics including information on airline passenger counts and cargo between individual airports, airline ticket prices, ontime performance by carrier and flight, and airline finance, employment, and fuel costs.
- Border Crossing data provide statistics for inbound crossings at all U.S. land border ports of entry from Canada and Mexico as collected by CBP. Data are available for trucks, trains, containers, buses, personal vehicles, passengers, and pedestrians by port-of-entry.
- Bikeshare (Docked and Dockless) and E-scooter Data are detailed monthly statistics for the largest docked bikeshare systems; annual statistics on cities with bikeshare (docked or dockless) and e-scooter systems and the locations of docked bikeshare stations; and effects of COVID-19 on docked bikeshare trips as well as bikeshare (docked and dockless) and e-scooter operational status.
- The Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey (VIUS), is the principal data source on the physical and operational characteristics of the U.S. light- and commercial-truck population. The VIUS returned to collect data for 2021 after a two-decade hiatus. The 2021 VIUS was expanded to include minivans, SUVs, and light pickups.
- The National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD) is a set of nationwide geographic databases that include spatial and tabular information that depict transportation networks; flows of people, goods, vehicles, and craft over the transportation networks; and social, economic, and environmental conditions that affect or are affected by the networks.
- The National Transit Map (NTM) is a nationwide catalog of fixed-guideway and fixed route transit service in America. Since its release in 2016, researchers have used the NTM to illustrate the role of transit and examine how local, regional, and national transportation networks work together.
- The National Census of Ferry Operators (NCFO) is a biennial census of all ferry operators operating within the United States and its territories. Data from the census is maintained in a national ferry database containing information about ferry routes, terminals, vessels, and operator funding sources, as well as the number of passengers and vehicles carried and more.
