This choropleth map depicts the percent change in population of U.S. counties and county equivalents from 2023 to 2024. Approximately 60 percent of counties experienced population gains in this time. Western Utah, the Texas Triangle, and the state of Florida experienced high population growth whereas rural counties in the middle of Appalachia and southern Mississippi River delta regions experienced population losses.
