This 12th edition is an in-depth report on the volume and value of freight flows in the United States; the extent, condition, and performance of the physical network over which freight moves; the economic conditions that generate freight movements; the industry that carries freight; and the safety, energy, and environmental implications of freight transportation. Freight Facts and Figures 2017 consists of 70 data tables and 32 figures, including 20 maps, in 108 pages. This report is intended to help decision makers, planners, and the public understand the magnitude and importance of freight transportation to the economy.
