U.S. Airlines’ August 2025 Aviation Fuel Consumption down 4.7%, and Fuel Cost per Gallon down 1.8% from July 2025

The Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) today released U.S. airlines’ August 2025 fuel cost and consumption numbers indicating U.S. scheduled service airlines used 1.677 billion gallons of fuel, 4.7% less fuel than in July 2025 (1.760 billion gallons) and 0.5% less fuel than August 2024 (1.686 billion gallons). The cost per gallon of fuel in August 2025 ($2.30) was down 4 cents (1.8%) from July 2025 ($2.34) and down 17 cents (7.1%) from August 2024. Total
