This bar graph shows federal transportation expenditures for highways, transit, air, water, railroads, general, and pipeline. Total expenditures were 41.6 billion dollars in 2021 and 41.5 billion dollars in 2022. Air has the highest federal transportation expenditures. In 2021, expenditures for air transportation were 22.4 billion dollars or 54 percent of the total. In 2022, expenditures for air transportation were 22.6 billion dollars or 54.5 percent of total expenditures.
