The U.S. Department of Transportation’s, Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), released its second quarter 2026 update to the Transportation Economic Trends (TET). TET highlights transportation's role in the economy and explores changes (trends) over time through a series of interactive charts and downloadable data. TET also explains related concepts and data sources for a general audience.

With this data release, BTS updated the following topics in TET: 

• Household Spending on Transportation: Spending per Vehicle-Mile
  • Per-Mile Costs of Owning and Operating an Automobile (current dollars)
• Transportation Productivity: Total Factor Productivity
  • Total Factor Productivity Indexes for Selected Sectors
  • Transportation and Warehousing Total Factor Productivity Components
  • Transportation and Warehousing Total Factor Productivity Components by Mode
  • Transportation and Warehousing Total Factor Productivity by Mode
• Transportation Productivity: Labor Productivity
  • Transportation and Warehousing Labor Productivity Components by Mode
  • Transportation and Warehousing Sector Labor Productivity by Mode
• Cost of Transportation: Cost of Fuel
  • Sales Price of Transportation Fuel to End-Users
  • Sales Price of Transportation Fuel to End-Users by Region

About the Transportation Economic Trends Database
