Motor Fuel Prices – December 2025

Today, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released monthly motor fuels prices for December 2025. 

In December 2025, the average price for regular motor gasoline was $2.89 per gallon; down 5.1% from November 2025 and down 4.1% from December 2024.

By region, the average price for regular motor gasoline in December 2025 was and year-over-year change:

  • West Coast: $3.87 (up 1.7%)
  • Central Atlantic: $3.01 (down 2.7%)
  • New England: $2.92 (down 2.3%)
  • Lower Atlantic: $2.74 (down 5.5%)
  • Midwest: $2.67 (down 7.3%)
  • Rocky Mountain: $2.58 (down 9.0%)
  • Gulf Coast: $2.47 (down 4.9%)

The average price for diesel no. 2 was $3.62 in December 2025, down 5.4% from November 2025, and up 3.5% from December 2024.
