Motor Fuel Prices – September 2025

Today, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released monthly motor fuels prices for September 2025. 
In September 2025, the average price for regular motor gasoline was $3.17 per gallon; up 1.1% from August 2025 and down 1.5% from September 2024.

By region, the average price for regular motor gasoline in September 2025 was and year-over-year change:

  • West Coast: $4.23 (up 3.1%)
  • Central Atlantic: $3.18 (down 2.4%)
  • Rocky Mountain: $3.18 (down 6.5%)
  • New England: $3.08 (down 2.4%)
  • Midwest: $3.01 (down 2.6%)
  • Lower Atlantic: $2.91 (down 3.7%)
  • Gulf Coast: $2.73 (down 1.0%)

The average price for diesel no. 2 rose to $3.75 in September 2025, up 0.1% from August 2025, and up 5.3% from September 2024.
