New Page: BTS Passenger Travel Facts and Figures

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) has developed a new Passenger Travel Facts and Figures webpage https://data.bts.gov/stories/s/f6cu-qb3g to showcase the agency’s snapshot of regularly updated passenger travel data.

These passenger travel facts and figures compile characteristics and trends of personal travel in the United States and how people move.

BTS breaks passenger travel into the following chapters:

  • Chapter 1. Sources of Travel - Summarizes the basic demographic and economic characteristics that contribute to the demand for passenger travel.
  • Chapter 2. Passenger Travel - Examines travel patterns by household characteristics, trip purpose, and transportation mode.
  • Chapter 3. Passenger Transportation System - Provides information on the passenger transportation system and its performance.
  • Chapter 4. Economic Characteristics of Passenger Travel - Discusses the economic characteristics of passenger travel and tourism.
  • Chapter 5. Safety, Energy, and Impacts of Passenger Travel - Describes the safety, energy, and impacts of passenger travel.
