4th-Quarter Domestic Air Fares Rose 10% from 4th Quarter 2010

Monday, April 30, 2012 - Average domestic air fares rose to $368 in the fourth quarter of 2011, up 10 percent from the average fare of $335 in the fourth quarter of 2010 (Table 1), the U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today. Cincinnati had the highest average fare, $502, while Atlantic City, NJ, had the lowest, $189 (Table 3).

4th-Quarter 2011 Airline Financial Data: Largest Airlines Report Profit

Thursday, May 17, 2012 - The largest scheduled passenger airlines reported a 1.5 percent profit margin in the fourth quarter of 2011, down from 3.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010, the U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported today in a release of preliminary data (Table 1).

February 2012 Airline System Traffic Up 6.1 Percent from February 2011

U.S. airlines carried 107.6 million total system passengers during the first two months of 2012, up 3.7 percent from the same period in 2011 (Table 2). Domestically, they carried 93.5 million passengers, up 3.9 percent from 2011 (Table 8). Internationally, they carried 14.1 million passengers, up 1.9 percent from 2011 (Table 14). March 2012 Airline System Traffic Up 1.4 Percent from March 2011

Thursday, June 21, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines carried 64.5 million scheduled domestic and international passengers in March 2012, 1.0 percent more domestic passengers and 4.2 percent more international passengers than in March 2011.
