Airline On-Time Performance in May Up from Previous Year, Down from April

Tuesday, July 10, 2012 - The nation's largest airlines posted an on-time arrival rate of 83.4 percent in May, up from the 77.1 percent on-time rate of May 2011, but slightly down from April 2012's 86.3 percent rate, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Air Travel Consumer Report released today.

April 2012 Airline System Traffic Up 1.6 Percent from April 2011

Thursday, July 19, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines carried 61.5 million scheduled domestic and international passengers in April 2012, 1.5 percent more domestic passengers and 1.7 percent more international passengers than in April 2011.

1st-Quarter Domestic Air Fares Rose 4.8% from 1st Quarter 2011

Thursday, July 26, 2012 - Average domestic air fares rose to $373 in the first quarter of 2012, up 4.8 percent from the average fare of $356 in the first quarter of 2011 (Table 1), the U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today. Cincinnati had the highest average fare, $526, while Atlantic City, NJ, had the lowest, $157 (Table 3).

May 2012 Airline System Traffic Down 0.3 Percent from May 2011

Thursday, August 23, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines carried 63.7 million scheduled domestic and international passengers in May 2012, 0.4 percent fewer domestic passengers and 0.7 percent more international passengers than in May 2011. 

June 2012 Passenger Airline Employment Rose 1.4 Percent from June 2011

Wednesday, August 29, 2012 - U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 1.4 percent more workers in June 2012 than they did in June 2011, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today. Scheduled passenger airline categories include network, low-cost, regional and other airlines.

Friday, September 21, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines carried 66.6 million scheduled domestic and international passengers in June 2012, 0.2 percent more domestic passengers and 2.8 percent more international passengers than in June 2011.

Tuesday, September 25, 2012 - The largest scheduled passenger airlines reported a 6.0 percent profit margin in the second quarter of 2012, up from 5.3 percent in the second quarter of 2011, the U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today in a release of preliminary data (Table 1).
