Transit Safety Data

Supporting a Culture of Safety in Transit

The Precursor Safety Data Program has partnered with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and its stakeholders to provide a system for employees to voluntarily and confidentially report close call events (accidents or other safety incidents that could have happened but did not) and/or unsafe conditions without fear of disciplinary action.

Close call reports are used to improve transit safety. These reports help inform new safety procedures (preventive safety actions) that can help avoid accidents/incidents in the future.
