Motor Fuel Prices – April 2026

Today, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released monthly motor fuels prices for April 2026. 
 

In April 2026, the average price for regular motor gasoline was $4.10 per gallon; up 12.8% from March 2026 and up 29.4% from April 2025. 
 

The figure is a line chart showing two lines – one for the price of diesel fuel and one for regular gasoline (all formulations) by month from April 2025 to April 2026. The price for diesel fuel ranges from $3.57 in April 2025 to $5.50 in April 2026. The price for regular gasoline ranges from $3.17 in April 2025 to $4.10 in April 2026.


By region, the average price for regular motor gasoline in April 2026 was and year-over-year change:

  • West Coast: $5.38 (up 26.5%)
  • Central Atlantic: $4.08 (up 30.1%)
  • New England: $3.98 (up 35.3%)
  • Rocky Mountain: $3.94 (up 25.6%)
  • Lower Atlantic: $3.86 (up 30.5%)
  • Midwest: $3.83 (up 26.5%)
  • Gulf Coast: $3.71 (up 35.2%)

The average price for diesel no. 2 was $5.50 in April 2026, up 11.8% from March 2026, and up 54.2% from April 2025.
