Motor Fuel Prices – July 2026

Today, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released monthly motor fuels prices for July 2026. 

In July 2026, the average price for regular motor gasoline was $3.93 per gallon; down 2.9% from June 2026 and up 25.8% from July 2025. 
 

The figure is a line chart showing two lines – one for the price of diesel fuel and one for regular gasoline (all formulations) by month from July 2025 to July 2026. The price for diesel fuel ranges from $3.78 in July 2025 to $4.96 in July 2026. The price for regular gasoline ranges from $3.13 in July 2025 to $3.93 in July 2026.

By region, the average price for regular motor gasoline in July 2026 was and year-over-year change:

  • West Coast: $4.94 (up 22.5%)
  • Central Atlantic: $4.02 (up 28.1%)
  • New England: $3.93 (up 30.2%)
  • Rocky Mountain: $3.88 (up 24.0%)
  • Lower Atlantic: $3.72 (up 27.4%)
  • Midwest: $3.71 (up 23.6%)
  • Gulf Coast: $3.51 (up 28.7%)

The average price for diesel no. 2 was $4.96 in July 2026, down 1.4% from June 2026, and up 31.1% from July 2025.
