March 2018 Passenger Airline Employment Data

U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 2.8 percent more workers in March 2018 than in March 2017:

  • The highest monthly full-time equivalent (FTE) employment total (434,243 FTEs) since December 2004 (436,909 FTEs).
  • The 53rd consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.

February 2018 Passenger Airline Employment Data

U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 3.0 percent more workers in February 2018 than in February 2017. February was the highest monthly full-time equivalent (FTE) employment total (432,232 FTEs) since December 2004 (436,909 FTEs) and was the 52nd consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.

January 2018 Passenger Airline Employment Data

U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 3.2 percent more workers in January 2018 than in January 2017, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today. January was the highest monthly full-time equivalent (FTE) employment total (431,308 FTEs) since December 2004 (436,909 FTE) and was the 51st consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.

December 2017 Passenger Airline Employment Data

U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 3.4 percent more workers in December 2017 than in December 2016, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today. December was the highest monthly full-time equivalent (FTE) employment total (430,607 FTEs) since January 2005 (430,780 FTEs) and was the 50th consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airlines' FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.
