March 2019 U.S. Passenger Airline Employment Data

The 21 U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 2.5% more workers in March 2019 than in March 2018:

  • March’s 444,967 full-time equivalents (FTE) was the highest March employment total since March 2003 (458,598 FTEs).  
  • March was the 65th consecutive month that FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.

February 2019 U.S. Passenger Airline Employment Data

The 21 U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 2.5% more workers in February 2019 than in February 2018:

  • February’s 443,058 full-time equivalents (FTE) was the highest February employment total since February 2003 (460,852 FTEs).  
  • February was the 64th consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.

January 2019 U.S. Passenger Airline Employment Data

The 21 U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 2.8 percent more workers in January 2019 than in January 2018:

  • January’s 441,783 full-time equivalents (FTE) was the highest January employment total since January 2003 (466,881 FTEs).
  • January was the 63rd consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.

December 2018 U.S. Passenger Airline Employment Data

The 21 U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 2.3 percent more workers in December 2018 than in December 2017:

  • December’s 440,396 full-time equivalents (FTEs) was the highest December employment total since December 2002 (462,602 FTEs).
  • December was the 62nd consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.

September 2018 U.S. Passenger Airline Employment Data

U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 2.7 percent more workers in September 2018 than in September 2017:

  • September’s 440,460 full-time equivalents (FTE) was the second highest monthly employment total since August 2004 (443,412 FTEs) exceeded only by July 2018 (443,475).
  • September was the 59th consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.
