The nations largest airlines reported improved their on-time performance last November, according to the U.S. Department of Transportations Air Travel Consumer Report released today. The 15 reporting carriers posted an on-time arrival rate of 85.7 percent in November, up from both November 2011s 85.3 percent mark and October 2012s 80.2 percent.
The amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry rose 1.7 percent in November from October, rising after a one-month decline, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ (BTS) Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) released today. The November 2012 index level (108.9) was 15.5 percent above the April 2009 low during the recession (Tables 1, 2A).
Trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners, Canada and Mexico, rose 7.9 percent in October 2012 compared to October 2011, totaling $85.3 billion, unadjusted for inflation (Table 1 and Figure 1), according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
