BTS Releases Transportation Economic Trends 2017

Friday, January 12, 2018 - The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) has released Transportation Economic Trends 2017, BTS’s annual report on transportation and the economy. The 124-page report highlights important trends in transportation and the economy, and explains related economic concepts and data sources for a general audience.

Airline On-Time Performance Up, Cancellations Equal to Lowest Rate Ever

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today released its January 2018 Air Travel Consumer Report on air carrier data compiled for the month of November 2017.  In November, the reporting carriers posted an on-time arrival rate of 88.3 percent, up from both the 86.5 percent on-time rate in November 2016 and the 84.8 percent mark in October 2017, and the second highest rate ever reported.  The highest rate was 88.6 in November 2009.

October 2017 U.S. Airline Traffic Data

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines’ October systemwide (domestic and international) scheduled service passenger enplanements rose 6.0 percent from September, rising to 72.1 million to reach a new all-time seasonally-adjusted high, after falling for two consecutive months.
