U.S. Cargo and Passenger Airlines Gained 8,962 Jobs in June 2025

U.S. airline industry (passenger and cargo airlines combined) employment increased to 1,021,493 workers in June 2025, 8,962 (0.89%) more workers than in May 2025 (1,012,531). U.S. scheduled-service passenger airlines employed 551,287 workers in June 2025, or 54% of the industry-wide total. Passenger airlines gained 1,356 employees in June 2025. Delta Air Lines led scheduled passenger carriers, adding 731 employees; Southwest Airlines added 530, and United Air Lines added 378.
