USDOT Air Travel Consumer Report Now Includes More Complete Airline Data

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) today issued its monthly Air Travel Consumer Report (ATCR), which, for the first time since its inception more than 30 years ago,  contains data on domestic flights that are marketed by the mainline carriers, but operated by the mainline carriers’ regional codeshare affiliates.

Airline On-Time Performance Up From January 2017, Slightly Down From December 2017

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today released its March 2018 Air Travel Consumer Report (ATCR) on air carrier data compiled for the month of January 2018.  In January 2018, the reporting carriers posted an on-time arrival rate of 79.6 percent, up from the 76.0 percent on-time rate in January 2017, but slightly down from the 80.3 percent mark in December 2017. 

2017 Airline Bumping Rate Lowest in Decades

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today released its February 2018 Air Travel Consumer Report on air carrier data compiled for the month of December 2017 and calendar year 2017.  In 2017, the carriers posted a bumping rate of 0.34 per 10,000 passengers, the lowest annual rate based on historical data dating back to 1995.  The previous low was 0.62 in 2016.  These carriers posted a bumping rate of 0.18 per 10,000 passengers for the fourth quarter of 2017, an improvement over the 0.55 rate for the fourth quarter of 2016.

Airline On-Time Performance Up, Cancellations Equal to Lowest Rate Ever

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today released its January 2018 Air Travel Consumer Report on air carrier data compiled for the month of November 2017.  In November, the reporting carriers posted an on-time arrival rate of 88.3 percent, up from both the 86.5 percent on-time rate in November 2016 and the 84.8 percent mark in October 2017, and the second highest rate ever reported.  The highest rate was 88.6 in November 2009.
