Tuesday, May 1, 2012 - Trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American neighbors, Canada and Mexico, was 17.4 percent higher in February 2012 than in February 2011, totaling $78.1 billion (Table 1), according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Wednesday, May 9, 2012 - The amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry fell 0.8 percent in March from February, declining after a one-month increase, according to the U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) released today. The March level was 16.0 percent above the April 2009 low during the recession (Tables 1, 2A).
Monday, May 14, 2012 - Between January and March this year, the nation's largest airlines posted their best on-time arrival rate for the first quarter of any year since the Department began collecting comparable flight delay data in 1995, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Air Travel Consumer Report released today.
Thursday, May 17, 2012 - The largest scheduled passenger airlines reported a 1.5 percent profit margin in the fourth quarter of 2011, down from 3.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010, the U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported today in a release of preliminary data (Table 1).
U.S. airlines carried 107.6 million total system passengers during the first two months of 2012, up 3.7 percent from the same period in 2011 (Table 2). Domestically, they carried 93.5 million passengers, up 3.9 percent from 2011 (Table 8). Internationally, they carried 14.1 million passengers, up 1.9 percent from 2011 (Table 14). Thursday, June 14, 2012 - The nation's largest airlines posted an on-time arrival rate of 86.3 percent in April, up from both the 75.5 percent on-time rate of April 2011 and from March 2012's 82.2 percent rate, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Air Travel Consumer Report released today.
Thursday, June 21, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines carried 64.5 million scheduled domestic and international passengers in March 2012, 1.0 percent more domestic passengers and 4.2 percent more international passengers than in March 2011.
