Freight Shipments Rose 3.9% in December from November PDF

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 - The amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry rose 3.9 percent in December from November, the largest monthly rise in 17 years, which brought the level of freight shipments to an all-time high, according to the U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) released today (Table 1).

Airline On-Time Performance, Cancellation Rate in January Improve from Last Year

Thursday, March 15, 2012 - The nation's largest airlines posted an on-time arrival rate of 83.7 percent in January, up from the 76.3 percent on-time rate of January 2011, but down slightly from December 2011's 84.4 percent rate, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Air Travel Consumer Report released today. On-time arrival performance during January 2012 was the highest January on-time arrival percentage in the 18 years with comparable numbers.

2011 Surface Trade with Canada and Mexico Rose 14.3 Percent from 2010

Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - Surface transportation trade between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico increased by 14.3 percent in 2011 compared to 2010, valued at $904 billion in 2011, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
