BTS 20th Anniversary Marked

Friday, October 19, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) celebrated its 20th anniversary this week. BTS, a part of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), was created by legislation in 1991 and formally organized in 1992 as a designated federal statistical agency having the primary purpose of collecting, compiling and disseminating transportation statistics.

July 2012 Airline System Traffic Down 1.1 Percent from July 2011

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines carried 69.2 million scheduled domestic and international passengers in July 2012, 1.1 percent fewer domestic passengers and 1.0 percent fewer international passengers than in July 2011.

Wednesday, November 28, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportations Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines carried 66.3 million scheduled domestic and international passengers in August 2012, 0.2 percent fewer domestic passengers and 1.1 percent more international passengers than in August 2011.

September 2012 Airline System Passengers Decline 1.1% from September 2011

Thursday, December 20, 2012 - The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today that U.S. airlines carried 57.4 million scheduled domestic and international passengers in September 2012, 1.7 percent fewer domestic passengers and 2.8 percent more international passengers than in September 2011.
