BTS Modernization
The Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) fell 0.6% in December from November, falling for the first month after one month of growth, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). From December 2024 to December 2025 the index rose 0.4%. The freight TSI measures the amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry.
The TSAR presents an overview of the U.S. transportation system and key indicators, including passenger travel, freight, transportation and the economy, reliability, safety, energy and the environment. The report also focuses on closing data gaps and improving how transportation statistics are collected, compiled, analyzed, and published.
