January 2019 North American Transborder Freight Numbers
Transborder freight between the U.S. and other North American countries (Canada and Mexico) in January 2019:
- Most-used mode: Truck moved $63.1 billion of freight, up 4.1% compared to January 2018
- Second mode: Rail moved $12.9 billion of freight, down 3.0% compared to January 2018
USDOT Announces Solving for Safety Visualization Finalists
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today announced two finalists, Ford Motor Co. and the University of Central Florida, for the third and final stage of the Solving for Safety Visualization Challenge. The challenge, a national, multistage competition with a total prize of $350,000, was announced last year, seeking innovative analytical visualization tools that can improve safety on our nation’s road and rail systems.
